A new warm-up to introduce you to "Sweep Picking", reading, two-note harmonies (or thirds) instead of triads, ear training, and a cool Latin Lick & Jam. A warm-up with some interesting picking, reading with some new musical terms and symbols (make sure you download the Glossary of Musical Terms here if you are not familiar with these terms), triads that you already know but using the 4th string, ear training, and a funky Lick and Jam that's a lot of fun. Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 32 This week we look at the A note. A warm-up with a tricky fingering pattern, reading based around the open A string, triads that utilize the open A string for some cool effects, ear training as usual, and a Motown Lick and Jam in the style of Steve Cropper (if you've never heard the name, Google him after the lesson). Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 33 Moving on this week to the the note B-flat. Another warm-up with a tricky fingering pattern, reading in the key of B-flat with some new musical symbols (make sure you've downloaded your 'Glossary of Musical Terms' above), triads that start using the lower strings, ear training, and an islandy Lick and Jam using double-stops again. Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 34 It's the low B note. A VERY tricky warm-up that will really make you concentrate. A reading excerpt in the key of B, ear training with some interesting intervals (see of you can find the pattern!), triads with several different shapes, and a Lick and Jam in 6/8 time (if you don't know what that is, you'll find out what that means here!) Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 35 This week we focus on the low C note. A tricky warm-up for your hands and your brain. A reading excerpt in the key of C while incorporating some of your own musicality, ear training again with some interesting intervals (see of you can find the pattern!), triads outlining lots of different options for how/where to play the chords, and a swingy Lick and Jam in the style of Michael Buble. Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 36 This week we are in the key of C#, so we ALL have to pay attention. A tricky warm-up in 3/4 time. Reading in the key of C#, ear training (enjoy it while it's still easy!), a triad workout using a new picking style, and another very motowny lick and jam. Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 37 This week we are in the key of E, which is very guitar friendly! A another tricky warm-up in 3/4 time. Reading in the key of E based on arpeggios (notes that outline a chord), ear training that's a little bit different, triads based on a droning (or a pedal), and you know it's gonna be a fun jam when it's the key of E! Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 38 This week we look at the low F note. A tricky warm-up in 3/4 time. Reading in the key of F, ear training using phrases instead of individual notes, a triad workout using the new picking style, and fun, up-tempo lick and jam. Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 39 In the key of F# this week. A another tricky warm-up similar to the last few weeks. Reading making use of open strings when possible, ear training using phrases again instead of individual notes, triads that are very tricky this week, and this week The Chain meets The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" in the Lick and Jam! And it's been a long time, so it's time for some more OUTTAKES! Essential Guitar 1 Lesson 40 This week we look at the low G note, otherwise known as "Cowboy G". Another challenging warm-up in 3/4 time (they just keep getting quirkier!). Reading that uses large intervals, chords and interesting picking techniques; ear training using two notes at once, triads using some new shapes and some old familiar ones, and cool, bluesy Lick and Jam that uses a lot of ringy, open strings.
